A developer has said it will open two new hotels in Liverpool this summer after an investment of over £11m.

The Baltic Hotel on Jamaica Street is set to open this summer

Town Hotels will formally open the £4.2m Duke Street Hotel next month, with the first guests arriving soon after the next phase of lockdown restrictions ease on May 17.

It will then launch the Baltic Triangle’s first hotel in July after investing around £7m into the project.

The 30-bedroom boutique Duke Street Hotel has a “raw, urban design with a luxury finish and ultra-modern facilities”, it said.

The firm, which is the hospitality division of property development firm Living Brick, said the Baltic facility on Jamaica Street will include ‘Shoreditch style’ dining facilities and bars, in a nod to the area’s similarities with London’s East End.

All of the 58 guest rooms in the former factory and warehouse building will showcase original features complemented by “ultra-modern” in-room facilities.

The hotels were created by Kevin Doran, founder of Living Brick and his business partner, Phil Walsh.

The pair already operate York Street Studios and Chavasse apartments – a portfolio of serviced apartments in the city centre.

Kevin Doran, founder of Town Hotels, said: “We are delighted to be announcing the opening of the Duke Street Hotel next month which will be followed by the Baltic Hotel later in the summer.

“Both hotels will offer contemporary, hip designs which are very much in keeping with the feel of the Baltic and Ropewalks areas of Liverpool. They will be pitched to UK and European visitors to the city looking for stylish but uncomplicated accommodation. They’re going to be incredibly cool places to stay.

“The Baltic will be a destination in its own right with food and drink facilities which will compliment the location. The development will feature many of the building’s original features with a modern twist.

“Both hotels will add to our already established serviced apartment portfolio which includes York Street Studios and Chavasse apartments in the city centre. We’ve worked with a brilliant team throughout the pandemic to get the new hotels ready.

“We are hoping for a great year as people start returning to the city as lockdown restrictions are lifted.”
