24th January 2021

Are you an up and coming fashionista, professional designer, or generally good with a needle and thread or glue gun?

We may be missing the glitz and glamour of a big night out but the Liverpool City Region Cultural and Creativity Awards #DressItUp Competition gives you the chance to enjoy the magic of the red carpet from your own living room.

Are you an up and coming fashionista, professional designer, or generally good with a needle and thread or glue gun? We are challenging the most creative dressers and makers of the City Region to create a spectacular outfit, head-dress or accessory for the glittering Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity digital awards event in February.

We are seeking two winners, one amateur and one professional who will each win this spectacular prize!

  • A Studio Room for Bed and Breakfast with Cocktails in the Sky Lounge at the soon to open INNSiDE Liverpool
  • Dinner for 2 at Luban
  • 2 x tickets to a Liverpool City Region located theatre for a show of your choice
  • Chance to exhibit your winning creation in the soon to open INNSiDE Liverpool

People across the Liverpool City Region have continued to find new and innovative ways of being creative throughout the pandemic, and this year’s ceremony, which is being held online on 19th February 2021, will honour those who have supported the cultural sector in 2020.

As part of this celebration, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is offering the chance to showcase the City Region’s most creative dressers in our competition.

So, instead of dusting off a shop bought outfit, we want you to get creative and make something spectacular! It can be something you have made before that is suitable as evening wear/occasion wear or something new you can make from scratch.

We want to encourage everyone to take part and get creative – any age, all abilities, on your own or anyone in your support bubble, professionals and amateurs, students and families. You can use any materials you like – it doesn’t have to be fabric; think of how you can use everyday items you find around your house, like paper, plastic bags or cardboard.

There will be two winners in the competition, one amateur and one professional. Professionals are classed as people who are professionally employed in fashion, costume or design and Amateurs are everyone else.

The competition will be judged by Mary Lamb, former BBC Costumier and Head of Liverpool based Costume and Fashion production space fabricationstudios.

During January and February competition judge – Mary will take over our Instagram account to share hints and tips on getting started and some inspirational ideas and creations. You can get some inspiration from her Pinterest page here.
