LIVERPOOL CITY REGION TO HOST NEW VISITOR ECONOMY ACCESSIBILITY FORUM

ATTEND LIVERPOOL CITY REGION FOR ALL FORUM – UNLOCKING AN ACCESSIBLE VISITOR ECONOMY

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is set to host an inaugural Accessible Visitor Economy event on 31st January 2025 at ACC Liverpool in partnership with ACC Liverpool, Liverpool ONE, Liverpool BID Company, Carlisle Support Services, Sodexo, Hospitality Hero and Liverpool Hospitality.

This landmark event aims to inspire city region-wide improvements in accessibility provision within the visitor economy, aligning with the Metro Mayor’s commitment to a resilient, fair and inclusive local economy for all.

Insight:

  • The annual expenditure of people with impairments travelling in England is estimated to be £14.6 billion per year.
  • The spending power of the ‘Purple Pound’ is estimated at £274 billion annually.
  • Many people with disability refrain from taking trips due to a lack of accessibility and information provision.

The forum will bring together stakeholders from across the region to explore best practices for improving accessibility within the visitor economy. Attendees will benefit from insights shared by expert speakers and individuals with lived experience, can participate in demonstrations and connect with providers who are all experienced in supporting organisations on their accessibility journey.

A major highlight will be the formal launch of the Accessibility Marketplace, a digital platform created through 18 months of collaboration between ACC Liverpool and Liverpool ONE. The platform will foster a regional ecosystem of organisations committed to improving accessibility through resources, advice and training.

This initiative represents a vital step forward in positioning Liverpool City Region as one of the most accessible places in the UK to live, work and visit.
