Plans progressing for Lewis’s Building regeneration

Augur is proud to be supporting the Liverpool City Region at MIPIM UK this year, helping to showcase the city and its opportunities to a national property audience. With 3,000 participants representing more than 400 companies, the theme this year is around game-changing – and how the industry can adapt.

In fact Liverpool is already leading the way when it comes to transforming. And our major project, Circus, adjoining and including the Lewis’s Building next to Central station, is helping to play its part. The site within Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter, encompassing two universities and a student residential area, within easy reach of Lime Street Station, the site is one of the last pieces of the jigsaw of the city’s longstanding commitment to regeneration.

In collaboration with Liverpool City Council and Network Rail, the development will encompass 400,000 sq. ft of the Grade II listed Lewis’s Building and its retained iconic façade as well as the surrounding land to deliver a new retail and leisure destination in the heart of Liverpool.

On completion of the first phase, the site will offer over 275,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space over five floors. The 126 room Adagio Hotel, and 26,000 sq ft PureGym on the lower ground floor are already trading well. In September, we officially launched The Department, a new office scheme providing 80,000 sq ft of grade A offices inside part of the old building, whose name pays tribute to its former use.

All in all, Circus provides an important opportunity to bring this part of the city back to life with the potential to create hundred of new employment opportunities. We’re making good progress and are looking forward to sharing more updates as the plans move forward.
