Neil Wetherall, Factory Talk Managing Director UK
Neil is the Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Factorytalk UK and before this ran an independent consulting company specialising in the implementation of technology driven change.
Prior to setting up his own company in 2014, he worked for AstraZeneca as the IT Strategy and Portfolio Manager for Supply Chain and Manufacturing. With over 30 years experience of leading engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and IT functions Neil brings this extensive life-sciences experience to FactoryTalk clients.
Hannah Randles, Sector Manager for Health and Life Sciences for Growth Platform
Speaker and Host, Hannah works alongside colleagues within the City Region to support and develop the Health and Life Sciences sector with a focus on business growth, inward investment, collaboration/networking support and wider strategic initiatives.
As the Sector Manager for Health and Life Sciences for Growth Platform – the Liverpool City Region Growth Company and the Innovation Agency, Hannah also provides executive support for the Health and Life Science Board managed by the Local Enterprise Partnership.
Peter Timmins, Independent Pharmaceutical Professional
Peter studied pharmacy at University of Bradford, went on to do a PhD (chemistry/natural products) at the same institution.
Post PhD studies, Peter initially worked in hospital pharmacy – Bradford, Halifax and Wakefield before joining the pharmaceutical industry in R&D laboratories. With more than 37 years experience with major players including Bristol-Myers Squibb, Peter eventually headed up large R&D group across two geographies and UK R&D sites.
Peter has demonstrated his technical and innovative ability in more than 120 peer reviewed publications, over 30 patents, plus books and book chapters. He is also highly regarded for his expertise in orally dosed formulations, and specific knowledge in slow release product and making highly insoluble biologically active compounds work effectively as medicines.
Darren Ragheb, Strategic Programmes Manager at Centre for Process Innovation Limited
Darren works in CPI’s Strategy team, leading on programmes to create new business units such as the National Packaging Innovation Centre, having previously delivered the business case for the £28m National Formulation Centre.
Darren also leads on CPI ‘go to market’ strategies across FMCG and Food and Drink, and Grand Challenges themes including Circular Economy and Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging. Darren has significant experience of roadmapping, strategy development and collaboration building across these themes at regional, national and European levels.
Darren has facilitated strategic public/private investments, including with Unilever, P&G, AkzoNobel and Innovate UK (the UK innovation agency), to a value of >£120M over the last 5 years. Darren is a formulation chemist by training and has previous worked at the Forensic Science Service, Syngenta and the Knowledge Transfer Network.
Simon Reid – Head of Advanced Manufacturing, Growth Platform – the Liverpool City Region Growth Company
Host and speaker, Simon Reid is Head of Advanced Manufacturing at Growth Platform – the Liverpool City Region Growth Company. Growth Platform has been set up by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to act as a single body responsible for inward investment, business growth, skills and education initiatives and destination marketing.
A well regarded manufacturing industy professional, Simon helped to further establish and develop the digital journey of companies like Kinetic PLC and FMGC. For the last two decades, Simon has been working to attract additional investment and internationally mobile projects into the the Liverpool City Region and was was also instrumental in devising, developing and implementing “LCR 4.0” – a European funded program to deliver Industry 4.0 technologies to 300 SMEs right across the city.
Dr Colin Kerr, Packaging Technology Director, Unilever
Colin has worked for Unilever for 34 years, during which time he has had roles where he was responsible for the global packaging development activities in several Categories within Unilever’s Homecare, Beauty & Personal Care, and Foods Divisions.
Colin is currently responsible for the longer term packaging technology programmes in Homecare and Beauty & Personal Care, looking at future solutions for materials and digital technologies.
