Leading UK logistics firm Europa Worldwide Group has opened its first Liverpool office close to the waterfront in a £500,000 investment.
A £260m-turnover national logistics business has opened its first Liverpool operation in a £500,000 investment.
In January, LBN reported Europa Worldwide Group was looking for premises for its first office in the city in its 50-year existence. Now the company has chosen the Royal Albert Dock for its Liverpool team.
Europa’s investment in the city is being delivered through its UK European road freight sales network at its Europa Road division which provides road freight services for import and export to and from Europe.
It was attracted to Liverpool by the number of manufacturers in the region, estimated to be over 3,000 that contribute £3.2bn to the local economy. It aims to take advantage of the growing market for European road freight which in 2020 was valued at almost £280bn.
Europa opens in the city with a team of five headed up by branch manager Carolyn Hough, an experienced logistics professional with more than 20 years sales experience and who joins from another leading transport operator. She said:
“I was attracted by Europa’s ambitious plan for growth for the European road freight division. We’re a small team to start with but we’re still on the lookout for further recruits and hope to have a team of ten by the end of the year.”
The Europa Road division provides European road freight services, operating the UK’s largest European groupage hub which is located in Dartford. Its network of 16 UK branches trunk into Dartford from where freight connects with daily direct services to 30 continental hubs.
Adrian Redmile, branch network and sales director, added: “We’d like to welcome Carolyn and the rest of the team to the Europa family. Our strategy is to deliver excellent customer service through local teams, putting our services at the heart of the region we are supporting.
“Having a fantastic local team in Liverpool means we will be able to support Liverpool’s growing supply chain needs with import and export – specifically on our pan European daily services.”
