TORUS WINS APPROVAL FOR TWO HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS
Liverpool City Region housing provider, Torus, has won approval for 24 homes in Knowsley, and wants to demolish flats at Parr Mount Court in St Helens to redevelop that site as a further residential project.

The approved scheme was designed by Stockport-based BTP Architects, which drew up proposals for two blocks containing 24 one- and two-bedroom flats on Brookside Road in Whiston.
Stanley Investments, a firm that buys land to bring forward affordable housing schemes, is developing the site for Torus.
The project is being part-funded through a grant from Homes England.
Construction is expected to start in the summer, according to Stanley.
Mosaic Town Planning advised on the planning application.

Meanwhile, in Fingerpost, east of St Helens, Torus plans to demolish the 96-flat Parr Mount Court, built in 1972, claiming that it no longer meets modern requirements for extra care housing provision, its current use.
Torus intends to redevelop that site, but no plans have been drawn up as yet.
Demolition of the site is due to start in August subject to planning consent, and last for two months.
