A full planning application for Taylor Wimpey’s 337 homes at Liverpool City Region’s Halsnead Garden Village, has been registered by Knowsley Council.

Pegasus Group is working with Taylor Wimpey as planning consultant for the 40-acre development, named Fox Wood Garden Village. Bloor and Maro Homes last month secured consent for 360 homes at the wider scheme.

The Taylor Wimpey proposal comprises a mix of three- and four-bedroom houses, with a three-acre mature woodland in the middle and a caravan park and farm bordering the site. The development will also result in a contribution of £2.3m to local services and infrastructure.

Ian Harrison, land and planning director at Warrington-based Taylor Wimpey North West, said:

“With just 14 Garden Villages in the UK, it’s an honour to be involved with bringing a landmark development forward and we’ve taken much-needed time to develop proposals, in consultation with local residents, that will deliver a new community that Whiston will benefit from for centuries to come.”

Pegasus group director Graham Lamb said: “This development will provide much needed family homes for Whiston, in an attractive neighbourhood which fully aligns with Knowsley Council’s vision for the wider Garden Village. It also provides an economic boost and show of confidence in the area at a time of huge uncertainty in the wider economy.”

The planning application will be considered by Knowsley Council with a decision expected in November.

Halsnead Garden Village as a whole is earmarked to provide up to 1,600 homes, employment land and a country park, and was one of the first 14 schemes to be awarded Garden Village status by the Government.
