Planners Approve Wirral Waters modular homes project
Peel L&P and Urban Splash have secured planning consent to build 30 modular homes at Wirral Waters in the first phase of a £55m project.
Under the 50/50 joint venture 347 new homes are planned for the Birkenhead docklands site and Wirral Council planner have given the go-ahead for work to start. It includes the customisable Town House from House by Urban Splash, which will launch for sale next spring.
Planning has also been granted for the first Row House homes, the newest product in the House by Urban Splash modular portfolio. Row House has been designed by Liverpool-based architects Shedkm and will be unveiled to the market in 2020.
House by Urban Splash is a new company, which creates architect-designed homes using modern methods of construction. It is owned by Urban Splash, in partnership with Sekisui House, Japan’s largest housebuilder, and Homes England.
Town House and Row House are just two of the House by Urban Splash types which will be on offer as part of the factory-built homes for the East Float area of Wirral Waters – the residential area House by Urban Splash is creating with Peel L&P.
All of the modular homes will be customisable by purchasers before being manufactured offsite in the House by Urban Splash modular factory and delivered to site. Richard Mawdsley, director of development at Peel L&P, said: “East Float will be a huge draw for those wanting to take advantage of the very latest in modular housing design.
“This project will not only provide much-needed housing for the area but it will transform the brownfield site into a highly contemporary, internationally recognised waterside residential quarter for families, individuals and couples alike.”
Jonathan Falkingham, who co-founded Urban Splash in Liverpool in 1993, added: “This new residential quarter is an exciting transformation for Merseyside and we’re delighted to be contributing to this emerging neighbourhood, bringing a wide choice of modern, innovative new homes for people to live in.”
