The global pandemic has shaken our cities and they face major challenges to support citizens and services, and to plan and navigate a recovery with many changes in train in trade, technology, travel, work, consumption and health.

This session was part of the London Real Estate Forum (LREF) Programme, promoting thought-leadership, sharing of intelligence and insight about the future of cities and the role of real estate.

Each year LREF engages the most senior leaders from across London and the UK’s investment sector, landowners, developers, government and the built environment professions. World Cities Day is 31 October 2020. A day when the world celebrates cities and this year the theme is Valuing our Cities & Communities.

So what is the value of cities and the communities they host? What kind of world would we have without cities? How can we orgainise our cities to produce more value for people, planet, and prosperity? Can we use the pandemic as a catalyst for positive change?
