Liverpool to host Games Tech Connect summit this October
Liverpool’s growing reputation as a hub for the games and creative-tech industries will be in the spotlight again this autumn, as the city welcomes a major industry summit. Games Tech Connect, co-hosted by Format Group and Liverpool Game Dev Network (LGDN), will take place on 29th October 2025 at One Fine Day, with an evening mixer at Ropewalks Hotel.
The event marks the start of FORMAT’s three-day takeover of Liverpool and promises to bring together senior leaders, studio founders, and creative professionals from across the UK and beyond. With a programme designed to spark collaboration and share actionable insights, Games Tech Connect is positioning itself as a highly significant industry gathering for the North-West.
Throughout the day, delegates will hear from some of the sector’s most respected organisations, including Firesprite, Brabners, Exient, and IMPRNT. Panels will showcase voices from a wide range of disciplines, spanning animation, publishing, technology, and entrepreneurship. Speed-networking sessions and dedicated pitch-deck reviews, delivered in partnership with Exient, will give attendees the chance to build meaningful connections and refine their business ideas in real time.
For Liverpool, the summit reflects the city’s wider ambition to cement itself as a national leader for games and creative-tech, attracting investment and supporting the next wave of talent and studios. By convening industry decision-makers under one roof, the organisers, Simran Whitham Founder, of Format Group, and Marek Smagala, Founder of Liverpool Game Dev Network, hopes to highlight the brilliant work being done in the region.
Speaking ahead of the event, LGDN founder Marek Smagala described Games Tech Connect as “a chance to show the strength of the north’s creative ecosystem on a national stage, while facilitating high-level connections across the games and creative-tech sectors to generate more partnerships and growth”
Simran Whitham explains the day will “be an incredible day for Liverpool’s video game, creative, and digital sectors to come together. Filled with meaningful networking, the chance to build key business relationships, and inspiring keynote presentations and panels from industry-leading voices. We can’t wait to bring this exciting opportunity to the heart of Liverpool’s creative and tech community.”
With FORMAT’s evening events complementing a packed daytime programme, Games Tech Connect is set to blend the energy of Liverpool’s creative community with the expertise of established industry leaders. The result will be an ambitious showcase of how collaboration across sectors can drive innovation, spark new business opportunities, and strengthen the region’s role in the UK games and tech landscape.
