G2O Water Technologies relocates to Techspace One, Sci-Tech Daresbury
G2O Water Technologies Ltd (G2O), the leading developer of graphene oxide filtration membranes that reduce the cost and environmental impact of water treatment, has opened a new office and laboratory in Techspace One at Sci-Tech Daresbury.
G2O Water Technologies Ltd (G2O), the leading developer of graphene oxide filtration membranes that reduce the cost and environmental impact of water treatment, has opened a new office and laboratory in Techspace One at Sci-Tech Daresbury.
Originally located in the North East, the company has chosen to relocate to the national campus in order to take advantage of the synergies with other organisations on site – including the Science and Technology Facilities Council – as well as the strong materials science talent pool within the North West.
The new space will initially accommodate twelve of the firm’s staff, with the firm looking to double in size over the next six to eight months. The relocation to Techspace One forms part of a wider strategy that will see G2O enhance and evolve the performance and functionality of filtration membranes in three product generations.
G2O was formed in 2015 following ten years of research into the benefits that nanotechnology can bring to water filtration. G2O’s relocation is a key step in its work commercialising this game changing technology, with the company focussed on developing real world products and solutions that meet precisely the needs of target industries.
The company’s novel filtration technology minimises water waste and delivers significant energy savings across a diverse range of markets and applications, such as produced water, industrial waste water treatment, desalination, food and beverage, aerospace and the energy sector.
Chris Wyres, CEO of G2O, commented, “The North West has historically been a hub for the UK chemicals industry, and the future for the region is incredibly exciting – we plan to be part of that. Being located at Sci-Tech Daresbury puts us right at the heart of the graphene and chemicals industry, and also enables to incorporate expanded development and testing facilities and fast track launch of a game-changing range of new products.
“We’re especially looking forward to taking full advantage of being based among so many dynamic businesses from across the whole science and technology spectrum, as well as accessing the support networks available to firms based at Sci-Tech Daresbury.”
John Downes, Group Chief Executive of Langtree and Chair of the Sci-Tech Daresbury joint venture company, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome G2O to the campus – this arrival underpins Sci-Tech Daresbury’s status as the perfect home for any forward thinking business that is looking to utilise the opportunities on site in order to maximise the potential of innovative technologies. It is also a great addition to the growing cluster of companies and organisations we have on the campus in novel material and environmental technologies.
“G2O’s commitment to collaboration perfectly tallies with our own ethos of encouraging our tenants to exploit the vibrant eco-system we’ve created on site to their advantage. We look forward to working closely with Chris and his team in the latest stage of G2O’s development, enabling their dynamic and exciting technology to reach new heights.”
