£9M LIVERPOOL SCHEME FOR 73 HOMES GIVEN GO-AHEAD
A development of 73 high quality new homes by Liverpool City Region-based construction company, Crossfield Group, has been given the go-ahead in Aigburth, Liverpool.
The successful planning application will see the transformation of the site of the former Liverpool Theatre School on Aigburth Road – which includes a disused building and parking area on Alexandra Drive – with two new apartment buildings. An existing villa on the site will also be refurbished as part of the scheme to create one and two bedroom homes.
The £9 million project will comprise 59 affordable homes available through the rent to buy scheme or shared ownership, and a further 14 luxury apartments which will become available for sale on the open housing market.
The planning application was submitted by Crossfield Exclusive Developments: a joint venture between Crossfield Group and Exclusive Investments. Both companies are led by senior management teams who are Liverpool born and educated.
Work on the site is due to begin in late October 2019 and will be carried out by Crossfield Living, a division of Crossfield Group, which specialises in delivering housing developments for both private ownership and social housing providers.
David Dobson, director at Crossfield Living, said:
“The project on Alexandra Drive is an exciting one: not only will we be able to deliver high quality, affordable homes to help contribute to the region’s urgent need for housing, but also rejuvenate disused land and buildings in the process.
“We pride ourselves on being good neighbours and considerate constructors and we will work closely with the local community throughout the development.”
Phillip Orr, project architect from Paddock Johnson Partnership (PJP), the Wirral-based Architects that designed the scheme, said:
“The plans for these homes have been very carefully considered to maximise the potential of this appealing site, whilst minimising the impact on its neighbouring properties and existing mature trees.
“The currently disused site has a varying context from Aigburth Road up to Alexandra Drive. PJP has designed the scheme to reflect this variation, ensuring that it fits comfortably in its surroundings and brings a disused site back into use to provide much needed homes in the area.”
Work on the project is expected to be completed in Summer 2021.
