WHAT IS SIBOS?
Previously known as ‘SWIFT International Banking Operations Seminar’ SIBOS is an annual banking and financial conference organised by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication.
Held in various cities across the world since 1978, the conference has an annual turnout of more than 9,000 participants from around the world, representing all branches of the financial services industry.

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS YEAR?
The conference provides a forum for people who work in global financial markets to participate as exhibitors and attendees to discuss and debate the most pressing issues, relevant to today’s financial industry.
This year’s event will be held from a true a global financial superpower – the city of London, within ExCeL, London’s biggest events venue.
Described as the most engaging, innovative and ambitious SIBOS to date, this year’s event will recognise the challenges and opportunities that mass digitalisation and data-driven relationships present for the SIBOS community, under the overarching theme of ‘Thriving in a hyper-connected world’.

MY PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT
On Monday 23rd September, from 2-4pm, the Department for International Trade will host a special FinTech event, designed to promote the substantial FinTech opportunity across the Northern Powerhouse.
Delivering new insights from leading companies within the sector, the event will introduce delegates to UK Fintech buyers, examine the growing demand for FinTech services and identify why places like Liverpool City Region provide such fertile breeding grounds for growth and innovation.
Talking about the Liverpool City Region opportunity at big, sector specific, global events like this is incredibly important, when it comes to attracting investment, so I can’t wait to attend this SIBOS event.
